Pride In Engineering (PIE) presents Trans Visibility in Engineering: Stories, Struggles, & Strength
Join us for Trans Visibility in Engineering: Stories, Struggles, Strength, a panel and networking event uplifting and centering trans professionals in the engineering industry. This evening will bring together students, professionals, and allies to hear powerful stories, celebrate resilience, and reflect on how we can build more inclusive futures in engineering.
This event builds on the success of our past program, Building Inclusive Futures, which brought together 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals and allies in Edmonton for a night of inspiring conversations and connections. See link here for details of our past event: https://prideinengineering.org/events/building-inclusive-futures-a-panel-networking-event-for-2slgbtqia-professionals-in-engineering
Pride in Engineering is a non-profit organization based in Edmonton, with a mission to inspire, support, and connect 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals in engineering. This year’s panel and networking event, Honoring Trans Journeys, is hosted by Pride in Engineering and sponsored by EllisDon, TD Bank, Montrose Environmental, and ENGGYAC, with venue support from the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering.
In recognition of Transgender Awareness Week (November 13–19) and in honor of the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), this event aims to celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of trans and gender-diverse people within the engineering community. Through meaningful dialogue and shared experiences, we seek to raise awareness of the unique challenges trans individuals face, foster inclusive environments, and inspire all engineers to be advocates for equity and belonging.
This free (or by donation) event will take place on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Fred Pheasey Commons (DICE 8th Floor), University of Alberta. Snacks and beverages will be provided. The event is open to all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in engineering and adjacent fields, as well as allies who wish to learn, connect, and support trans and gender-diverse individuals in their professional and personal journeys.
Pride in Engineering extends heartfelt thanks to EllisDon, TD Bank, Montrose Environmental, and ENGGYAC for their generous sponsorship of this event. With their support, we continue to build spaces that celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and amplify the voices of trans and gender-diverse engineers across Canada. We also extend our appreciation to the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering for providing the venue for this important gathering.
As we come together in recognition of Transgender Awareness Week, we remember, honor, and uplift trans and gender-diverse people in our field and beyond - celebrating their courage, brilliance, and authenticity.

ANÉ DARLING
(She/her)
Ané never was much good at math.
But boy did she ever excel in engineering the tallest most beautifullest woman you've ever seen: herself. When she's not busy living her truth to the fullest, she can be found enchanting and horrifying audiences as a heavy metal burlesque star. She also just learned how to make sourdough and she's really looking forward to being a right menace about it. Warm, welcoming, and charming--not nervous at all about hosting a panel of folx much smarter than her.
