About this event

ENGGYAC EDI and PIE bring you a night to support our 2SLGBTQIA+ community while networking with other engineers in the ENGGYAC community. The night will feature two guest speakers who will who will talk about their authentic experience as both, engineers and as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This event is also a chance for folks to support PIE's initiatives to help create a more inclusive space for all engineers.

Come out and join us for a night to connect with some good food and drinks! More details about the speakers and ticketing is below. Note that this is a free and by-donation event!

Guest Speakers

Victoria Ly, P.Eng.

Victoria Ly (she/they) is a Transportation Engineer and Project Manager who is passionate about building connected communities and sustainable infrastructure. Victoria has previously worked as the former Director of Student Community and Engagement for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, and as the Co-Founder and former President of a technology non-profit organization. As a visible member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Victoria is passionate about fostering inclusive and welcoming environments that are conducive to the success of equity-deserving underrepresented genders within the fields of engineering and technology.

Alex McNally, E.I.T.

Alex McNally (he/him) is a graduate of the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. During his time as a student, he was involved with the Diversity in Engineering student group (advocating for recruitment and retention of equity-deserving groups in engineering), The Landing, and led UAlberta’s first 2SLGBTQIA+ intramurals hockey team, “The Other Team”. He spent three years working as the Operations Coordinator for DiscoverE, where he was able to combine his passions for EDI, STEM, and leadership in working to provide young folks with meaningful and fun opportunities in science and engineering. Alex uses his lived experiences and visibility to advocate for inclusive and equitable experiences in STEM.
